The Coronavirus health crisis is significantly affecting the meetings industry in the world. Several major corporate conferences or large events that can contribute to the spread of the Covid-19 are been postponed. Such events includes conferences, sporting events, festivals, concerts, parades, and so on.
While some of these meetings/events are been postponed, some are being moved to online.
Organizers of the Dubai Expo 2020, set to take place this year, have said they will “reassess and adjust” preparations. This is as a result of the continuous spread of the Covid-19 globally. Although, they did not say if the event will be postponed or cancelled.
Members of the Expo 2020 Dubai’s steering committee will hold a “Virtual meeting” on Monday March 30. 25 million visitors are expected at the Expo 2020 Dubai, with more than 70% from outside the UAE.
Dubai, is the host city of the six months Expo, which is to run from October 20, 2020 till April 10, 2021.
Here’s A List Of Some Of The Business Events That Has Been Postponed/Cancelled.
Adobe, cancelled its live summit scheduled for March 29 to April 2 in Las Vegas. Over 20,000 attendees were expected at the conference. The conference, will now be held online instead.
*World Bank, IMF
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, announced that they will replace their regular Spring meetings with a “Virtual Format“.
TED 2020 was supposed to be held in Vancouver on April 20-24, but was postponed to July 20-26. The organizers, said they might decide to hold the conference “Virtually“.
*Facebook’s F8 Annual Conference.
Facebook, cancelled its Annual F8 developers conference, which is the company’s biggest annual event that was scheduled for May 5 and 6. Facebook,said it would replace the event with “locally hosted events, videos and live-streaming contents.
Facebook’s Annual Marketing Summit scheduled for early March was also cancelled.
*Google News Initiative.
Google, called off its annual developers conference scheduled for May 12 to 14. Google, had opted for a “Virtual Cloud Conference” for both it’s Annual Cloud Next conference and Google News Initiative.
*Real Estate Conferences.
The National Association of Realtors, already cancelled two conferences in a week. The Joint AE Institute slated for March 13-16, and the Realtor Broker Summit slated for March 31- April 1, has been cancelled.
The group, said it’s “considering alternatives” and could reschedule, relocate or redesign both conferences later in the year.
