We’ve all heard that if you could win the morning, you could win the day. One of the ways to doing that is to create regular rituals and routines so you don’t have to think about what you need to do. And if you could set up routines, habits and rituals, especially early in the day, you could benefit from this science momentum and create positive momentum as opposed to being reactive like how a lot of people do. They pick up their phone, the first thing and they start reacting and driving distraction and reaction, as oppose to proactively spending time with self-care and self-love and having a vision and a direction for your day. So, let’s get into it.
Now, as I jump into this, again, this is my ideal day. So sometimes I can’t do all of these but I can do as many as I can. The first thing I do when I wake up is, I recall my dream. When you’re dreaming you are actually processing, integrating and working on solutions with your subconscious mind to the things you were focusing on during the day time, but most people forget their dreams. After that, I get out of the bed and I make the bed. And now this is something that is obvious that most of you do, but if you don’t do it, take two minutes and make your bed because that’s a success habit. If we’re talking about positive momentum, the science momentum, getting things done, checking thing of, doing it with excellence, then making you bed is worth one to two minutes because, again, how you do anything, is how you do everything and have a good check mark on something like making your bed is very powerful. Because it teaches you to be able to do something really well and excellent, like they do in the military. And the other benefit is when you come back at the end of the day, you come back to success as you come back to your bed already made.
I also keep a gratitude journal. During this experiment I became a real journal freak and I do not regret it since writing down my thought really helped me restructure my life and the same thing goes for gratitude. Make it a habit to write down all the things you are grateful for every evening. Then, when ever you are in a bad mood, just open this journal, it will certainly put a smile on your face.
Again, I try to stay hydrated. In the course of my research and experiment, I read that having a glass of water before breakfast helps to wake up your digestive system and set it up nicely for the day. As I started to do this, I instantly noticed the difference. This little trick makes you feel light and helps you avoid over eating in the morning. Your body will certainly appreciate it.
Make yourself a smoothie. I replaced coffee with a cup of natural smoothie as my morning drink and it definitely had a positive effect on my body. Natural smoothies are full of the nutrients and vitamins that your body needs as it wakes up so it is better to leave a cup of coffee or tea for later in the day.
These are my morning habits but it is up to you to make yours. Just make sure that your morning hours make you a better person every single day. Go for it, you got this. Do you know any other effective habit that I can incorporate? Tell me in the comment section below.
