Slot specializes in the importation, sales and repairs of mobile phones and computers in Nigeria. Nnamdi Ezeigbo is also the brain behide TECNO and INFINIX phone brands in Nigeria.
The success story of Nnamdi Ezeigbo is quite an intriguing one. A story of grass to grace one might say. After his graduation from Yaba College of Technology where he studied Electrical Electronics Engineering, he tried to secure a job severally but failed. To make ends meet, he decided to work as an apprentice learning how to repair computers. Six months into his apprenticeship, he opened his own computer repairs shop which he named Slot. In no time, his customer base waxed, this was attributed to his honest nature and premium manner for which he positioned his customers.
As Nnamdi remained steadfast in his business, one faithful day, he reconnected with an old customer from his apprentice days and it became a change-point for his business. He told Nnamdi that he would love him to continue fixing his computer, but would suggest he operates from a more serene environment. The customer gave Nnamdi some printers to sell, from the proceeds, Nnamdi setup a new stop for his business. From there, his journey to counting millions of naira had begun.
After Nnamdi expanded his store, he began to sell computers. As the business grow, customer demands grew too. Customers began to request for vicinities, mobile phones and other computer gargets. With a keen eye to identify opportunities when it presents itself, Nnamdi Ezeigbo without delay expanded his business to cover the sales of mobile phones as well.
For better management of his fast-growing business, Nnamdi decided to enroll and obtain an MBA form the Lagos Business School. This did not only help in sharpening his business acumen and development, it helped him to build a strong and reputable brand.
The rise of telecommunication networks, created more opportunities for the Slot company. Poor network services made Nigerians purchase more than just one mobile phone, just so to have alternative network provider when one fails. Nnamdi identified this gap and approached Nokia to convince then to manufacture a dual sim mobile phones for Nigerian so they don’t have to carry more than one mobile phone around, but they rejected his proposal because to them people carrying more than one phone meant more money and sales for them. It was in this bid that Nnamdi came up with Tecno and subsequently Infinix.
Today, Nnamdi Ezeigbo is one of the most successful Nigerian entrepreneurs in the computer and phone business. From a humble repair man, he built a multimillion-dollar company in Nigeria with branches all over the big cities in the country.
