Eight people are now facing punishment for violating indonesian mandates requiring all citizens to wear face masks.
The anti-maskers have been given a severe punishment of digging graves, for those who died from the corona virus according to Jarkata post.
The local politician and cerme district head Suyono stated , “There are only 3 grave diggers available right now, so I thought that I could as well use these anti-maskers to work with them”.
Suyono said that two people were assigned to each grave. One to dig and one to line the hole with the wooden boards for support.
He also added that the violators didn’t participate in the actual burials.
“Hopefully, this can serve as a deterrent effect against violations” he stressed.
Indonesia had made the wearing of fae masks compulsory in April 5,2020.
In addition to grave digging, violators in the country are made to sit in a hearse containing a casket and told to reflect on their actions.
According to a law enforcement coordinator, businesses that have violated the rules are shut down temporarily and are told to clean sewers as a form of punishment.
Since the outbreak of the corona virus, over two hundred and twenty-one thousand cases of the covid-19 have been reported.
This includes the eight thousand, eight hundred and forty-one deaths recorded.
Indonesia has recorded the highest number of deaths in all of South East Asia.
