“Jerusalema” South African’s hit song has gained a huge international traction and has gotten more than 125 million views on it’s official YouTube page.Since the official release of the song ,it has become a global phenomenon, KG featured Nigerian’s very own Burna boy in a remix.
All over the world celebrities, students , construction workers and health workers have posted videos while getting on the #jerusalemachallenge. Even the South African’s minister of finance Tito Mboweni has joined in on the internet craze .
When the Limpopo born music producer Master KG,also known as Kgaogelo Moagi,released the song in 201,he never anticipated international success or even having a song that would top the chart on YouTube. He featured vocalist Nomcebo Zikode who managed to keep fans all over the world captivated with her electrifying voice . Since it release, the gospel-hosue influenced song “jerusalema” has become a global phenomenon,even inspiring it own dance challenge.
Amongst those who participated in the challenge is Cristiano Ronaldo who also showed his love for the song on his Instagram page. Janet Jackson had also shared a video of men performing a choreographed dance to the song after which she tagged Master KG.
The challenge has brought so much needed positivity during the pandemic.
In an interview with with South African newspaper Sowetan,Master KG stated “The dance video went viral and after then, alot of people started to participate.
The song keeps stacking up the records.
According to Shazam,Jerusalema is now the most shazamed song in the world and the Jerusalema craze continues to sweep the world.
