PROFILE OF ELO UMEH, The CEO of Terragon Group

Elo Umeh is an Entrepreneur, the CEO of the Terragon Group, a Nigerian-based mobile marketing company. He is an expert in Data and marketing technology. Elo Umeh founded Terragon Group in 2009 and since then he has given his experience in the nascent mobile tech industry and is of a strong conviction that mobile would be the next frontier of media and marketing technology in Africa.

To Elo Terragon Group is a product of passion and drive. Terragon have remained the leading marketing technology business in Africa. Elo’s vision is a community where mobile device drives internet access. He started Terragon Group as a humble digital media company but over the years, Terragon has evolved into an enterprise software company with a range of data and marketing technology products that focus on the African market.

Across Africa, Elo strived to change the manner companies get to their customers. More recently, as data capabilities grow globally, has focused on innovating with data by paying attention to the local realities within African markets. In the past 15 years, Elo Umeh has worked in mobile and digital media on the Africa continent.  His experience cuts across Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.  . Elo has excelled in mobile and digital media and have consulted for notable organizations in the telecommunications and banking sectors, which includes the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) on development of rural telephony initiatives, Mobile Payments in West Africa and the deployment of new products. Terragon have served various multinational and local brands. Terragon also has its research and development team in Bangalore, India.

In August 2019, the annual Business Day Leadership awards which recognizes innovators and game-changers awarded the exceptional business leader the CEO of Terragon Group, Mr. Elo Umeh, with the Business-to-Business SME CEO of the year in Lagos, Nigeria. This award was for his sustained commitment to excellence in enterprise and contributions to the Nigerian economy.

Elo is passionate about leveraging the unique ways Africans use the mobile device to intelligently connect brands to their customers. He holds a Global Executive MBA from IESE Business School, where he graduated as the best Student of his class and made the IESE Business School 40under40 entrepreneurs list in 2017. He has been in founding and leadership roles with the Mobile Marketing Association, Nigeria and the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) West Africa.
